Fire in the Triangle

Invitation to Apply

The North Carolina Department of Agriculture would like to invite you to apply to become a contestant in the “Got To Be NC” Competition Dining Series. In its inaugural year, the series is sponsored by the North Carolina Department of Agriculture, OUR STATE Magazine, and Pate Dawson Company / Southern Foods. The goal of the competition is to promote local North Carolina ingredients and talented chefs from across the state.

The application package includes details of the competition in addition to a short application form.  We invite you to also explore the various web and social media outlets listed below, as well as the press being generated by the first competition series, Fire on the Rock.  Along with Wilmington and Blowing Rock, competitions will also be held in Raleigh and Greensboro this year.

We encourage chefs to apply for the opportunity to show off their skills, have some fun, and celebrate North Carolina ingredients with the local dining public. A panel made up of members of the local media and the North Carolina Department of Agriculture will select the competitors. Special emphasis is placed on the incorporation of local ingredients into restaurant menus. Applications must be received by the deadline listed in each of individual competition series application packets. Click here to download the Fire in the Triangle application

A portion of all ticket sales is donated to the Office of the State Fire Marshal to assist with fire prevention education. Kitchen fires are the number one cause of severe burns, and our goal is to educate the public and support our local fire fighters.
