2013 Fire on the Dock

Invitation to Apply

The North Carolina Department of Agriculture would like to invite you to apply to become a contestant in Fire on the Dock, part of the “Got To Be NC” Competition Dini­ng Series. In its second year, the series is sponsored by the North Carolina Department of Agriculture, OUR STATE Magazine, Crippens Country Inn and Restaurant and Pate Dawson-Southern Foods. The goal of the competition is to promote local North Carolina ingredients and talented chefs from across the state.

The application package includes details of the competition in addition to a short application form.  We invite you to also explore the various web and social media outlets listed below, as well as the press generated by our competitions this past year: Fire on the Rock, Fire on the Dock, Fire in the Triangle, Fire in the Triad, and Final Fire.  Along with Wilmington, competitions will also be held in Asheville, Blowing Rock, Greensboro, Raleigh and Charlotte this year. 

We encourage chefs to apply for the opportunity to show off their skills, have some fun, and celebrate North Carolina ingredients with the local dining public. A panel made up of members of the local media and the North Carolina Department of Agriculture will select the competitors. Special emphasis is placed on the incorporation of local ingredients into restaurant menus.  The “Got To Be NC” Competition Dining Series actively assists the Office of the State Fire Marshal with fire prevention education. Kitchen fires are the number one cause of home fires, and our goal is to educate the public and support our local fire fighters.
